About Us

F*CK EATING DISORDERS.

WE ARE STRICTLY an AWARENESS page.

We are NOT an E.D. TREATMENT nor EDUCATION SITE.

This project was created from 2020-2021 by a team of passionate students. Status: In-active.

F*ck Eating Disorders a.k.a., F*CK(ED), is a platform dedicated to showcasing the rise in disordered eating content online while promoting anti-diet culture + body positive imagery. We take a bold and transparent stance against the glamorization and normalization of disordered eating content on social media that pursues unrealistic #bodygoals. With tiktok, snapchat, instagram, photoshop, facetune, and plastic surgery, comes a host of social and mental health consequences, specifically, the rise in disordered eating. Our generation has changed. We learn and engage with the media to the point where it becomes so integral to our identities and daily routines.

To fight against Pro-Eating Disorder Culture, F*CK(ED) strives to give the public media literacy and highlight how damaging some of the current influences, fad diets, and trends are to the mind and body. Together, we believe that society can collectively shape a future that is free from diet culture pressure and ideals of achieving the “perfect body”.”

Hi, I'm Jenny!

I am a self-proclaimed "Jenga Master", professional blanket burrito, and of course, student with a passion for nutrition. My aim in working with F*CK(ED) is to address the insidious online spread of pro-E.D. content, while also creating a safe and healthy community for those who are suffering, or have suffered with an eating disorder.

My name is Kat, an odd-ball that loves to try new things in life. My background is in dietetics and my focus is to tie knowledge into visually appealing models that align with current media aesthetics. I love hikes, adventures, dogs, and sports with pals! Eating Disorders have consumed majority of my adolescence and teen years. This platform goes out to the younger person I was back then, that got swept up by pro-ana tips on tumblr and diet products.

Lucy Hoang, Marketing
Lucy Hoang

My name is Lucy and I'm going into my 4th year of university. I love making all things yarn-related: knitted shrimp, crocheted nigiri, and embroidered cherries! I'm so excited to be the Marketing Lead Director for F*CK Eating Disorders as I'm passionate about eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, especially in adolescents and youth who are told from a young age what they should look like based on photoshop and unrealistic societal expectations. I hope to debunk diet myths and increase awareness of EDs and ED resources available!

I'm Janyn and I'm studying Dietetics at UBC and I am the External Relations Lead Director for F*CK(ED). I constantly see how the media and society normalizes disordered eating behaviours and I personally know how detrimental and consuming these behaviours can be. So, I got involved with this platform because I wanted to start to challenge these norms and start conversations about eating disorders and disordered eating.

Aside from dismantling diet culture I enjoy biking, hiking, cooking and baking, and finding new music!

Annie Lin, Recruitment

My name is Annie and I am a 4th year UBC student majoring in Food Market Analysis. I am the Recruitment Director for F*CK(ED). I love trying out new restaurants, exploring new places in the lower mainland and listening to podcasts! Social media has been saturated with posts that normalize disordered eating and in some cases promote it! It is important to educate the public about the devastating consequences of disordered eating and promoting unhealthy relationships with food and their body.
